About Tijara
A halal, Monopoly-style multiplayer trading game built on Islamic economic ethics.
The game
Tijara (Arabic for trade) is a free online board game for 2 to 6 players. You lead a merchant caravan from market to market, set up shop where you stop, and grow your businesses with Souq Stalls and Grand Khans. Other merchants who visit buy your goods, until one merchant is left standing. Play with friends through a link, or join a public table and meet players online. It runs in the browser on your phone or computer, with nothing to install.
Why it is different
The classic property game is built on dice, interest and bankrupting your rivals. Tijara keeps the fun of trading and growing a business but changes the rules underneath: you move with cards instead of dice, raise cash through Ijara (leasing) instead of interest-bearing mortgages, pay Zakat to the player who has the least, and endow Waqfs for the common good. Generous play earns Barakah, which stays on your account after the game.
Who makes it
Tijara is an independent project made in Belgium. Ideas, bug reports and feedback are always welcome at [email protected].
